'Chinese food is the most consumed and searched food in the internet. Authentic Chinese Food in Kolkata is difficult to get, except for a few good costly restaurants or the next best alternative is the China Town, Tangra or Territy Bazar. We had been to Territy Bazar a month before and one of the strangers we met,suggested us to visit the Dragon Boat Festival which was organized on 11 June 2017. There are many restaurants which serves Chinese Food in Kolkata, but it is more of Indianized, or somewhat like IndoChinese. Where as, the Chinese Community still holds fame of the traditional home cooking methods, and serves the best of Chinese food in Kolkata. We googled to find out the origin of this event. The Dragon boat festival happens every year in China as a tribute to Qu Yuan, who was a minister sent to exile, and later turned poet, won the hearts of millions with his work. When he did suicide, in the rivers, his admirers took the boats and rowed to bring out his body to the shores. To mark this day, as a tribute, every year this festival is celebrated. While this is a reason, there is also another reason of the celebration which is as the dragon worship and the food represents an offering to the dragon king and the rowing of boats creates positivity. We, at the Dragon Boat Festival visited all the food stalls to select some of the best dishes from each. We tried out the Chicken Bao, Sticky Rice, Honey Glazed Sesame Chicken, Fried Wantons and freshly brewed Jasmine Tea. This was indeed a place to taste the best chinese food in kolkata. The evening started with the Opening ceremony by the Consolate General of China, followed by the Boat race, Martial Arts Performance, Chorous Songs and lot more. Overall this is the second time event in Kolkata and hopefully this happens every year. A must visit for any food lover. Specially if anyone is searching for the best chinese food in kolkata.
